India has an estimated 30 million stray dogs living without food,
safety, or medical care. Most organisations respond reactively.
VOSD — Voice of Stray Dogs was built to solve the problem
permanently.
Founded by Rakesh Shukla in Bengaluru, VOSD is India's largest
canine welfare institution, combining rescue, medicine, technology,
and public health into one accountable model.
The World's Largest No-Kill Sanctuary
VOSD's 7-acre sanctuary outside Bengaluru is home to over 1,800
rescued dogs in permanent lifetime care. These include animals that
lost limbs to train accidents, dogs blinded by cruelty, parvo and
distemper survivors, and retired service dogs from the Karnataka
Police and Indian Army. No dog is ever euthanised due to lack of
space or resources.
India's Largest Dog Feeding Programme
VOSD serves 13.5 lakh dog meals every year through a network of
community feeders and volunteers across Bengaluru, Pune, and
beyond. A regularly fed dog is healthier, calmer, and safer for
the community.
Sterilisation That Actually Works
Through its SafeSpay programme, VOSD conducts Animal Birth Control
sterilisation and vaccination drives across Bengaluru, Pune, and
Kolhapur. This is the only method proven to reduce stray dog
populations humanely and sustainably.
Technology Saving Lives
VOSD built India's first mobile app for dog rescue coordination
and operates CloudVet an AI-powered remote veterinary service
giving expert medical care to dogs anywhere in India. VOSD also
established India's first blood bank for stray and pet dogs.
A Business Model That Funds Rescue
The VOSD Trust owns a family of pet care businesses veterinary
clinics, pharma products, and dog training. Every rupee of profit
goes back to the rescue mission. At VOSD, the dogs are the only
shareholders.
